The City of Fort Meade (Florida) has big plans for its outdoor recreation area along the Peace River. The plans include an RV park, an equestrian center, a replica of the original Fort Meade, a historical square with artisan shops and concert stage, room for Civil War reenactments, a golf driving range, kayak and boat launches on the Peace River, and a developed fishing lake.
Developing this project will take a lot of money. The first step in the quest for funding is development of a Feasibility Study, which is being funded by a grant under the US Department of Agriculture “Rural Business Enterprise Grant” program. Oak Square Consultants will be performing the market and feasibility analyses portions of the Feasibility Study. Once the study is complete, it will be submitted for USDA review in preparation for application for design and construction funding to make the project a reality.
Under the RBEG program, the City of Fort Meade will develop the project and the individual component operations will be run by emerging small rural businesses.
